World Travel Trick Number 3: Cook up a Storm
It’s time to get out and taste the world people! I say this as there are two things in life that make me happy – Food and Travel aka food tourism!
Knowing that at this very second travelling overseas or pretty much anywhere isn’t an option and eating out is a little limited we simply can’t have you missing out on your favourite dishes from around the world.
Don’t panic we have you covered… with a huge imagination and a whole lot of cooking, you will feel like you have travelled around the world in no time!
Dumplings

Have you ever been on holidays and loved a restaurant so much so that if they let you in for breakfast, lunch and dinner you would have been first in the door?
Well, this happened to us and we can’t stop thinking about the delicious dumplings that we ate every day from Celebrity Cruises Sushi on Five.
Thanks to Donna Hay we cooked up a batch of her “Perfect Prawn Dumplings” and wallah we felt like we were back cruising the world and eating dumplings at one of our favourite restaurants.

Are you ready to try something a little more adventurous? Do what I do & add your dumplings to this broth:
2 cups of chicken stock (Maggie Beer is my go-to for stock)
2 tablespoons of Chinese Shaoxing wine
As much finely chopped ginger & red chili as you like & some coriander to top it all off.
If you really want to take it to the next level add 2-3 teaspoons of Dumpling Dipping Sauce & a drizzle of sweet chili sauce.
Cubano

From the minute you take a bite of this sandwich you will be speechless (literally speechless). You won’t be able to speak to anyone until you have eaten it all up. I may go as far as saying your life will never be the same and no sandwich will ever compare.
We visited the Four Seasons O’ahu at Ko Olina in Hawaii and very unexpectedly ate one of the best sandwiches of our lives. It was, of course, a CUBANO! It was so good that we drove all the way back across the island the next day to get another one.
For those that don’t know a Cubano is a delicious concoction of pork, cheese, pickle and mustard all toasted together – yum!
Now, before you even try and make the sandwich you must watch the movie. Chef is a brilliant movie starring Jon Favreau which includes a food truck, a road trip and Roy Choi’s CUBANO recipe! need I say more…. once the movie is over you are ready to create!

Smokey Pulled Pork – If you are looking for something a little more smokey try Donna Hay’s smokey pulled pork (while you’re shredding the pork reduce the sauce right down so it’s really rich, then stir it all back in together – yum!)
Can’t find Swiss cheese? No worries use Jarlsberg
Freshly Brewed Italian Coffee

The smell of freshly ground coffee beans brewed in a Moka pot always makes us feel like we are back in Venice at Corte di Gabriela having one of the best Italian breakfasts we have ever had. Freshly brewed coffee, Nutella crepes and prosecco – don’t judge, it’s Italy it’s only right to start the day with a little glass of bubbles!
Make sure you use freshly ground beans – the smell alone makes you feel like you’re in Italy!
Now we are far from being coffee snobs but we just can’t get enough of Delano’s – Cargo, Danes – Mocha Gold & Vittoria’s – Oro
Brew your coffee in a Bialetti Moka Pot
Warm or froth your milk with the Nespresso Aeroccino
