Just the thought of completely unwinding by disconnecting from your daily routine makes you feel a little calmer and relaxed. So imagine how you would feel once you’re in the country experiencing it.
This 3-day luxury getaway in country NSW is guaranteed to have you feeling revitalised and refreshed from the minute you smell the fresh country air.
Day One | Sydney to Gundagai via Jugiong

11.30 am | Lunch at Sir George Hotel, Jugiong
Before reaching Gundagai stop by the charming town of Jugiong for lunch at The Sir George Hotel. After lunch head next door to the Long Track Pantry to stock up on some home-cooked deliciousness for dinner.
Good to Know
Jugiong is approximately 30 minutes from Gundagai
The Sir George Hotel – We had lunch here!
Pre-book before you go and in winter ask for a table near the fireplace in the whiskey lounge. Don’t forget to buy a Nutella or jam donut for later on

Long Track Pantry
Stop in and pick up dinner from their take-home meal and dessert selection. We had the sticky toffee pudding and the potato, leek and bacon soup – Yum!

2.00 pm | Check-In at Kimo Estate Eco Hut
Be prepared to be wowed by what you’re about to experience. Kimo Estate’s luxury off-grid Eco Huts overlook the countryside and I guarantee this is a stay that you will never ever forget.
With three Eco Huts to choose from you will check-in and never want to check-out. Fergo’s Hut is our favourite as you can toast your marshmallows over the fire pit!
JR’s Eco Hut – Kimo Estate’s original hut
Fergo’s Eco Hut – has an outdoor fire pit
Sweeney’s Eco Hut – has a wood-fired hot tub
Good to Know
Kimo Eco Huts have no power points so be sure to charge what you need before you go, a USB port is available inside
From early 2021 all Eco Huts will have wood-fired hot tubs
The Eco Huts are very popular, so if you can’t find an available date keep checking the website or insta as dates do pop up (I checked every day and when I saw it was available I booked straight away)

Day Two | Gundagai to Gundaroo
10.00 am | Check-Out
Before check-out cook and enjoy your local produce breakfast of bacon, eggs, beans, tomatoes, spinach, sourdough and fresh juice in the comfort of your eco hut – so yum!
10.30 am | Gundagai to Murrambateman
In just over one hour you will be entering the town of Murrumbateman, a cool climate wine region with an endless supply of cellar doors to visit. The question is where do you start?
11.30 am | Wine Tasting at Shaw Wines
We started at Shaw Wines, here you can sit overlooking the vines in the huge tasting room or lounge area and enjoy a cheese platter while sampling the Estate and or Reserve wines.
The staff are extremely friendly and will happily share their knowledge about the wine and the region. Be sure to start your tasting with their Sparkling Cuvée – Mwah!
2.00 pm | Chocolate time at Robyn Rowe Chocolates
Not only is Robyn one of the loveliest people you will meet but her award-winning handcrafted Belgian chocolates are so good that one little pillow of silky smooth deliciousness will not be enough. Be sure to try the Coconut Lime Zing, French Caramel, Raspberry Caramel and the solid chocolate frogs… you won’t regret it!

Olleyville is situated within the grounds of the Shaw Winery, the modern Italian menu consists of small plates, large plates, wood fire pizzas and feasts – yes I said feasts, which would be a great sharing option for 2 or 3 people. Don’t leave Olleyville without trying the Korean sticky chicken, braised beef cheeks, chocolate fondant & box honey pannacotta – delicious!

11.00 am | Wine Tasting at Clonakilla
Clonakilla offers a large variety of red and white wines that range from very affordable to very expensive and the good news is that you can taste them all! We really enjoyed the Shiraz Viognier.
1.00 pm | Lunch at Grazing
Dating back to the 1830s the Royal Hotel is the perfect backdrop for enjoying a long lunch in front of the open fire at Grazing Restaurant. The food, the wine, the staff and the setting are phenomenal – this is a restaurant that you just can’t miss.
We opted to try the three-courses and can highly recommend the Hand-rolled potato tortellini with almond ricotta, muscatel and beurre noisette, PX braised Ox cheek with celeriac mash, sprouts, pancetta, macadamia pesto and the Salted hazelnut and caramel parfait with frozen fudge and cookie crunch – Yum!
