World Travel Trick Number 2: Holiday Movie Marathon
So we can’t hop on a plane and travel the world right now, actually, we can’t even travel to another state or country but we can at least pretend right…. right!
So lets do it with a bit of help from Hollywood! Here are our five top travel movies of all time that will not only take you on one delicious journey around the world but will get you in the mood for planning your next holiday extravaganza!
Go grab the popcorn, a nice glass of bubbles, hop on your most comfortable recliner and imagine you’re sitting in first class onboard QF 3 flying from Sydney to Honolulu and get ready to watch 10-hours of travel movie fun!
Before you launch into your first movie, like on any flight, be sure to watch the new safety video from Qantas which makes you travel back in time – that song at the end gets me every time, it’s fabulous!
Chef
This has to be one of my all-time favourites movies not only does it bring a smile to my face at the thought of watching it but it combines two of my favourite things … food and travel!
Picture a food truck, a chef and Cubano sandwiches traveling across America to places like New Orleans, Austin, Miami and LA. Watch the movie and then make the sandwich – we did and it was amazing! You can find the actual recipe at The Chef Show.
Starring: Jon Favreau, Scarlett Johansson, John Leguizamo, Sofia Vergara
1hour & 54minutes
The Holiday
Which one would you choose for a house swap getaway… London or Los Angeles? How can you choose… I want to go to both! Well, if like me, you are finding it hard to choose this romantic comedy might just help you make up your mind.
Starring: Cameron Diaz, Jack Black, Jude Law, Kate Winslet
2hours & 16minutes
Under the Tuscan Sun
Have you ever wanted to visit Tuscany or even better live in a Tuscan Villa? If the answer is yes then you just have to watch this movie. It not only showcases the Tuscan countryside (which is so amazing you will want to move there tomorrow) and some delicious Italian cuisine but has a little bit of romance added in as well! Watching this movie reminds me of Villa Naumannia a B&B we stayed at in Itlay just outside of Tuscany.
Starring: Diane Lane, Sandra Oh
1hour & 53minutes
Julie & Julia
If isolation has you missing the taste of French cuisine then this beauty will help inspire you to cook up a French feast one recipe at a time – 524 recipes actually! Julia Childs and I have so much in common we both “love to eat” and are both “very good at it”!
Starring Meryl Streep, Amy Adams, Stanley Tucci
2hours & 3minutes
National Lampoons Vacation
Haha, I’m laughing already, this has to be an all-time classic travel movie that just about everyone can relate to! This is a hilarious comedy about a family road trip across America to get to Wally World! If you have not seen this, go and watch it right now!
Starring: Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Randy Quaid, John Candy
1hour & 38minutes
