If the name alone doesn’t excite you then the thought of checking into Tinkersfields rustic yet luxurious accommodation in the heart of the Snowy Mountains certainly will.
Ideally situated in the Crackenback Valley between Thredbo and Jindabyne Tinkersfield offers six accommodation options ranging from the gorgeous “Field Studios” for two all the way up to “The Barn” with an open fireplace, exposed beams, stone walls, and four generous bedrooms accommodating eleven guests.
We checked into Field Studio 1 which is located on the higher side of the property. At first, we were a little concerned that the Field Studio was adjoined via an enclosed walkway to the Field Hut but from the minute we opened the door and felt the warmth of the fireplace and the smell of eucalyptus we never thought another thing of it.
The cabins are extremely spacious and have been beautifully decorated. The combination of eclectic fixtures and fittings along with rustic-luxe furnishings makes you instantly feel comfortable, cozy, and wishing you had booked a longer stay.
Your hosts, Sonja and Warren, have thought of every little detail, we particularly loved how even the door key was labeled “Welcome Mel” as well as the chocolate nut cookies and fresh flowers throughout.
We also loved the mountain views, the Kangaroos feeding right outside our door, and that the hut was fitted with every home appliance you could think of along with underfloor heating in the bathroom, a bbq on the enclosed verandah, a clawfoot bath with an outdoor view, wood fire heater, and Foxtel!
We stayed at Tinkersfield during June when winter was really starting to settle in. The nights were crisp and cold, so much so that the bottle of water in our car turned to ice, but the sky was so clear that we could lay in bed and look out at the millions of stars – even shooting stars!
If you love fresh air, country hospitality, and peacefulness we guarantee that you will enjoy Tinkersfield at any time of the year. We loved our stay at Tinkersfield and can’t wait to return!
