Have you ever checked into a place and wished you had booked a few more nights? Well, that’s exactly what happened when we checked into Fergo’s Eco Hut at Kimo Estate.
Let me start by saying if the thought of staying at a property with no PowerPoint, no TV, no room service, and no hairdryer scares you as much as it scares me – don’t be. I guarantee from the minute you see your Eco Hut sitting high on the hill overlooking the mountains and Kimo Lagoon you won’t even remember what a TV is.
Located in Nangus, just 10 minutes from Gundagai Kimo Estate is a 7000-acre working sheep and cattle farm. Now to all those Instagram fanatics out there, Kimo Estate would be more famously known for its Luxury Off-Grid Glamping Eco Huts.
Eco Huts
Perched high on the hilltops and spaced miles apart Kimo Estate has three Eco Huts to choose from – JR’s, Sweeney’s, and the one we stayed in – Fergo’s.
All three huts have unbelievable countryside views, fitted with a queen bed, an indoor woodfired heater, Webber BBQ, gas cooktop, cooking utensils, camp fridge, USB port, and a shower that looks out over the property.
Each hut has its own unique feature – JR’s has 360-degree views, Sweeney’s a hot tub and Fergo’s a fire pit. It’s hard to choose which one to book but Fergo’s is our favorite. We loved sitting around the outdoor fire pit with a glass of wine while toasting our marshmallows and looking over the lagoon. To us, Fergo’s felt the most secluded which made it all the more relaxing.
Check-In
Self-check-in is seamless, a few days before your stay you will receive an email from Kimo Estate. This will go through every bit of information you need to know about your hut. It will tell you how to get there, what’s included in your stay, what you can see around the area, how to download the concierge app and how to access your hut.
The Digital Concierge App
For all of those city slickers out there, the concierge app will come in very handy. It gives you access to videos and information on how to use the indoor woodfire, camp oven, and hot tub along with recommendations on where to eat and the all-important farm stay safety information.
Breakfast
Everything you need to make a delicious country-style breakfast is in your fridge (I say fridge but it really looks like a gigantic esky). There is plenty of food for two people including sourdough, farm-fresh eggs, bacon, beans, tomatoes, spinach, juice, and milk. Tea and coffee are supplied but if like us you prefer a fresh brew each morning then take your Mocca pot and brew away!
Booking
Kimo Estate’s Eco Huts are extremely popular due to their unique setting and incredible architecture (they are stunning), so my advice is to book early. If you can’t find an available date keep checking Kimo Estates website or Insta page as dates do pop up (I checked every day and when I saw it was available I booked straight away).
I recommend booking a minimum of 2 nights at this property as one night was nowhere near enough.
A getaway to Fergo’s Luxury Eco Hut at Kimo Estate is one experience that you just can’t miss. Seriously what are you waiting for… start packing your bags!
