Travelling just under three hours south of Sydney you will arrive in Laggan, a small country town in the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales, and most importantly the home to Laggan Pantry – yum!
Housed within the beautiful grounds of the old police barracks Laggan Pantry is one of those rare finds, where you can stop by and enjoy a fine dining experience for lunch or dinner or simply relax out in the garden with a share platter and a fresh ale from the Tap Room, Laggan Pantry’s onsite brewery – yes they even brew their own beer!
Owned and operated by Evan – the chef, Sally – the front-of-house service extraordinaire and Obi the charismatic border collie. Laggan Pantry uses fresh local and homegrown produce to create delicious modern Australian dishes, making it the perfect place for us to sit back and enjoy our five-course birthday lunch!
We had two options to choose from for the entree, main and dessert, and side dishes were also available at an additional cost – how can you say no to chat potatoes with rosemary – yum!
We ordered:
First ♡ Little pot of Soup
Entree ♡ Pan-seared Tasmanian scallops & Pulled pork shoulder croquette
Main ♡ Prime beef fillet rolled in seeded mustard
Dessert ♡ Lumberjack cake with warm butterscotch & Raspberry semifreddo with white chocolate shards
Final ♡ Cheese & house cracker
Additional sides ♡ Seasonal Vegetables & Roasted chat potatoes with sea salt & rosemary
Each course was really delicious but we highly recommend the pulled pork croquette, the prime beef fillet and the lumberjack cake – yum, yum & double yum!
Laggan Cottage also sits within the grounds of the restaurant and brewery and is a great place to stay if you are looking for a weekend getaway or a place to stay after having dinner at Laggan Pantry.
Hint
♡ Be sure to book in advance, restaurant reservations are essential
♡ Ask for a table in the front window so you can enjoy the view of the grounds & on a nice day ask to sit out on the verandah
♡ Take a walk through the kitchen veggie garden & visit the chooks before lunch
♡ Take home some of Laggan Pantry’s produce that’s for sale in the restaurant
